Copper was the first metal used by human beings.
The discovery of copper, and a flourishing culture where metals were used to make useful implements,led to remarkable developments in human civilization beyond the Stone Age.
Still today, the use of copper has great impact on our daily lives.
Copper is widely used in the electric energy industry due to its high conductivity and excellent ductility.
In terms of thermal and electrical conductivity, only silver has a higher value of conductivity.
In the electric energy industry, copper is the primary material used to make Winding Wire.
Sam Dong is a world-class producer of OFHC, the preferred metal for the manufacture of Winding Wire.
The use of OFHC provides for higher quality Winding Wire due to its much lower oxygen content than Electrolytic Tough Pitch (ETP) copper.
OFHC offers higher electrical conductivity,and exhibits a higher recrystallization temperature than ETP.
Additionally, due to the fact that it contains a maximum of 10 ppm of oxygen compared to 200 ppm to 600 ppm of oxygen for ETP, the production of copper fines during processing is
inherently reduced when using best wire-drawing practices.
Currently, Sam Dong OFHC is being used world-wide in the production of Winding Wire, high voltage transformers, motor winding and electrical power generation products, and as connectors in solar power generation industries.
